Hands of the White Wizard – The One Ring

Six new adventures for The One Ring challenge you to decide Saruman’s fate before the War of the Ring begins. Hands of the White Wizard is a new expansion for the One Ring Role-Playing game.

Free League plans to publish a new adventure book for the One Ring Role-Playing game, set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-Earth. For those unfamiliar with the One Ring, it’s an awesome role-playing game by Francesco Nepitello and Marco Maggi, now in its 2nd edition. Initially published by Cubicle 7, the game is now published by the Swedish powerhouse Free League. If you are a fan of The Lord of the Rings and you haven’t tried out this game, make sure you get a chance to. It captures the spirit of Middle-Earth beautifully and is a game we fully recommend.

Hands of the White Wizard

Set between 2965 and the opening moves of the War of the Ring, these adventures invite players to serve, observe, or challenge Saruman the White at the height of his wisdom and the edge of his corruption. Once a counselor to kings and master of Ring-lore, Saruman now rules from Isengard, a bastion of knowledge and power where the first cracks of pride begin to show. The treason of Isengard has not yet begun, but its seeds are sown. The question is whether his downfall is inevitable or if the courage of heroes can still change his fate and the fate of Middle-earth itself.

Hands of the White Wizard Key Features:

  • Serve or Spy: Decide whether your heroes will aid the White Wizard or uncover the secrets he keeps.
  • Six Adventures Across an Era: Follow Saruman’s path from counselor and scholar to would-be tyrant, spanning the years 2965 to the War of the Ring.
  • Lore of Isengard: Discover new allies, foes, and mysteries within Orthanc and the valley of Nan Curunír.

Hobbit Tales

Alongside Hands of the White Wizard, we today also announced Hobbit Tales, an expansion for The One Ring letting you experience the adventures Hobbits get up to (when they cannot avoid it!). Hobbit Tales is also available for pre-order in the Free League webshop, with a PDF supplied at a later date at no extra cost.

Explore the Shire with a thorough description of its four farthings and five exciting ready-to-play adventures, fully playable also by taking on the roles of some Hobbits whose descendants will go on to do extraordinary things, such as Primula and Rory Brandybuck, Paladin Took, and Bilbo Baggins himself!
